From retailer to project developer

The swibox success story began with the sale of Ensto plastic enclosures and nVent electrical enclosures. Back in the early 1990s, we took over the general agency for both brands in Switzerland and have continuously expanded the business ever since.
We quickly learnt that you can only survive in this market if you have mastered the engineering part as well as trading in standard components. Customers want to be advised. It is often absolutely necessary to customise and refine standard products so that they meet the special requirements of our customers.
This is why we have consistently developed further and expanded our production capacities in metal and stainless steel processing.
This enabled us to win the “Lötschberg Base Tunnel” project. As the general contractor for pressurised cabinets, we were able to contribute a great deal of experience to the project. The “Gotthard Tunnel” project was also a milestone for us. At ±10kPA, the requirements for pressure resistance were considerably higher here. We also mastered this task with flying colours and are now regarded in the industry as proven experts with outstanding expertise.
The fact that we set up a production facility for sheet steel enclosures in Hungary “almost as a side effect” and have since been able to react to the extreme cost pressure of the markets has rounded off our product portfolio.
Today, with over 100 employees, we are an established player not only on the Swiss market and offer everything from project planning and design to production and assembly from a single source.
